MEDICINE HOUSES
This project proposes the construction of traditional medicine houses in indigenous villages and Tekohas of the Guarani and Kaiowá populations in different regions in Mato Grosso do Sul.
The Guarani and Kaiowá communities, composed of a population of 48,000 people, live in a context where medical care is extremely precarious, difficult to access, and culturally inappropriate, and these houses propose to provide health care based on the practices and knowledge that make up traditional Guarani and Kaiowá medicine.
This proposal is particularly urgent in the current context of a global pandemic, strengthening the access that these indigenous communities will have to the care of their physical, psychological, and spiritual bodies, also contributing to the valorization and recognition of traditional medicine and health practices carried out by midwives, prayers, and Guarani and Kaiowá elders.
